About Us
Princeps Books is an independent bookseller set up in 2021, specialising in signed first editions and collectible/limited editions.
We don’t believe in boundaries or genres, so we try to keep an eclectic range of curated titles in our store, from Childrens books, smattering of comics, non-fiction and literary fiction. Most of all, we are drawn to anything strange or fantastical, so our shelves lean heavily towards Fantasy, Sci-Fi and YA fiction.
We are just starting out, but we have big plans. We look forward to promoting up-and-coming writers and producing our exclusive range of limited editions, so please follow us on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date and be part of our story.
Delivery
We will usually process your order within two days of stock being available. Delivery times are outside of our control, but for UK deliveries, orders are shipped within 2-3 working days (it may take slightly longer during busy periods) by standard post. Higher value items may be sent tracked/recorded delivery. For larger orders of multiple items, a courier service will be used.
Standard postage costs are £3.50 for the first book (under 2kg), and a surcharge of £1 for each additional item. Single items over £100 or 2kg will be sent either recorded delivery or courier and carry a £5.50 fee.
If you have any preferences about deliveries (for example would prefer to use a courier or specific service) please just drop us a line and we will provide a quote.
We are pleased to ship internationally, but prices are dependent on the size, weight and destination – please get in touch and we will be happy to provide a quote.
Overseas delivery is also subject to Customs clearance procedures and your local postal service delivery schedule. If you are ordering goods for delivery outside of the UK, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be paid by you. It is accepted by you that Princeps Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. We recommend that you check with your local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may be applicable to your online order. You will be the importer of record and responsible for any import VAT and duty that needs to be paid. In addition, any charges for import clearance will be paid by you, the customer.
Pre-Orders
We will keep you informed of forthcoming releases, and where demand is high, we will open select titles up for sale ahead of their release date. Please note that for pre-orders, publication dates are there as a guide and are subject to change. Sadly, sometimes (albeit very rarely) pre-orders can be cancelled, which is usually due to the availability of the author for signing, and is beyond our control. If this occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible and provide a full refund.
Returns
We are happy to refund or exchange unwanted items that are returned to us within 14 days, provided they are in perfect condition. The customer is responsible for return postage. Please specify if you require an exchange or whether you would like a refund.
If you receive an item that is less than satisfactory, please notify us as soon as possible (but within 14 days from the delivery) so we can rectify the issue and advise you how to return the item.
For the return of high-value goods, we recommend that you use a recorded delivery service, as we cannot be responsible for non-delivery of returned items.
